Day 1: The first day involves starting at Cusco and taking a drive to Ollantaytambo. The starting point of the trail is at Km 82 and you start with an easy, two-hour initial trek. You will reach the first Inca site here known as Patallacta and then continue trekking for about 4 hours where you reach your first camp.

Day 2: The second day is a test of your strength. The trek is difficult and will only cover 17 km. You cover the longest and the most difficult part of the trek on the day which stretches for 9 km. You reach the Dead Woman’s Pass on the way which is the highest elevation of the trail and then hike through the Pacaymayu valley. You then hike through the second pass known as Runcu Raccay and then descend to Sayacmarca for the most stunning sunset views. This will be followed by a short hike to Chaquicocha which is the second campground.

Day 3: This will be a six-hour hike where you reach the third pass, Phuyupatamarca. You will be able to get the most stunning views from the top. Your final campground will be a three-hour hike from Phuyupatamarca and you will be able to discover various Inca sites on the way.

Day 4: You will reach the final checkpoint today and get the first sight of Machu Picchu. You can then descend and enjoy the exception parts of the city and explore the same.
