Formation of Hair

The main role in hair formation is of Keratin. Keratin is basically a protein, which synthesizes the production of nails, hair, and outer layers of skin. The hair follicles are below the scalp from the hair particles originate. The section which is visible is called the hair shaft.

Every hair has a lifespan of two to six years, in this period it grows up to its maximum length, and after that, the hair falls, and the new hair starts to grow and take its place. The normal hair fall frequency is around 100 hair strands a week. In the menopausal phase, it is common for the hair fall frequency to increase, as there is an imbalance in the hormones.

Symptoms of Hair loss

Hair fall is a general phenomenon. It is natural and happens to everybody, but hair loss happens when extreme hair fall takes place, so it becomes hard to distinguish sometimes until it’s too late. Look out for these symptoms-

  • Look out for large chunks of hair, whenever you are shampooing.
  • Check for hair strands around your pillow or bedside, wherever your head rests.
  • Check your temples and see check the quality of hair at that spot versus quality of hair at sides of the head.
  • Itchy or flaky scalp is also an indication of hair loss.
  • Redness or pimple on scalp from time to time.
